Texting customers

Turn on business texting (A2P 10DLC registration)

How business texting approval works, what each approval status means, and who has to act before customer texts can be sent.

U.S. phone carriers require businesses to register before texting customers from a business number. Trades Operator prepares the details; you review them once; then the phone network reviews the application. Customer texting stays blocked until every review is approved. Calls work without this approval.

Open Turn on business texting at /communications/compliance, or select Finish texting setup on /settings/communications. A company owner must do the submitting steps.

Steps

  1. Make sure Company Profile (/settings/company/profile) has the owner's full name and email.
  2. Review the prepared details: Customer texting page, Privacy policy, Terms of service, how customers agree to texts, an example message, and the HELP and STOP replies. The customer texting page must be the exact public page where a customer enters a phone number and ticks a separate, unchecked texting box.
  3. Select Save and review, then Submit for approval. This sends your business identity for review.
  4. When the business is approved, select Send message approval to submit the customer-permission page and sample service updates. Your company number is attached automatically.

The page notes that phone-network registration and campaign fees may apply. Submitting never sends a customer a text.

If your number was already approved elsewhere, use Connect existing approval.
