Turn on card payments with Stripe

How a company owner connects a Stripe business account so customers can pay invoices by card, what the setup checks mean, and what can block payments.

Customer card payments are set up at Set up payments (/settings/payments/setup). Payments go directly into your own business Stripe account. Only the company owner can complete setup; administrators can view the status. Every step asks for a recent two-step verification.

Set up payments

  1. Open /settings/payments/setup.
  2. Select Set up business payments (or Continue business payment setup if you started before).
  3. A secure Stripe form opens inside Trades Operator. It reuses the company details you already saved, so you only fill in the remaining business verification and payout details. This does not charge a customer.
  4. When you finish, Trades Operator runs its payment checks automatically. You may see Checking payment setup for a short time. Keep the page open.

Payments turn on automatically once Stripe has verified your business and Trades Operator confirms that Stripe's payment updates reach the app. The header then shows Payments on.

Open Payment setup details to see each part: Payment account, Business account, Refunds and disputes, Customer payments, and Trades Operator billing.
